Florence Pugh's Gravity-Defying Mullet Is an '80s Dream Come True See Photos

Those who’ve cut their hair short in the past will know the dreaded ‘in between phase’ all too well. So, it helps to have guidance (especially from the eternally chic Florence Pugh) on how to style it while you’re growing it back out or deciding on your next style. Florence Pugh has revealed why she decided to buzz her hair, with the actor revealing that she chose the hairstyle because she wanted to take “vanity out of the picture”. Pitch Perfect 3 alum Hailee Steinfeld commented, "Absolutely," while actress Joey King wrote, "I love it." Pugh's latest hair move is rumoured to be prep for her next role in A Good Person, a movie directed by boyfriend Zach Braff which will also star Morgan Freeman and is currently being filmed.

Blonde Water Waves

For one Oppenheimer photocall in London last week, the actress’s hair was dyed a light pink colour, while Pugh later debuted a copper-coloured hairstyle on the red carpet. Whether Pugh keeps growing it or decides to cut it short again is anyone's guess. Earlier in the day, Pugh posted a photo to promote an interview she did with J.Crew, in which she's seen in her shorter, shaggy style and rooty blonde look from few months ago. "I MISS THAT HAIR SO MUCH. Looooooove," she wrote in the caption — so it sounds like a return to a shorter, lighter look isn't out of the question. If there's any celebrity that has seemingly come out of nowhere to become a major hair influencer over the last year or so, it's Florence Pugh.

Pugh originally experimented with darker locks in the northern hemisphere’s summer a few months ago, however, for this transformation, she dyed her hair a darker shade of brown to match her new super short do. Florence Pugh definitely shocked us all when she pulled up to the Met Gala with just a dusting of stubble left on her head. The buzz cut was surely a moment, and since that first Monday in May, Pugh has rocked her short hair in various forms, including letting it grow out a bit and dyeing it orange for the UK Oppenheimer premiere. Based on her Instagram post, it looks like the actor is letting it grow even more. It's a well-known, incontrovertible scientific fact that Florence Pugh is a masterful grower-outer of super short haircuts. She basically spent most of 2023 proving that after shaving her head last May; her buzzcut was followed by several fantasy colours and a host of creative ways to wear short hair, from a spiky look to a faux-hawk.

Florence Pugh "Did a Thing" and Got a Super-Short Pixie-Mullet Haircut

The Don't Worry Darling actor took a trip to Tokyo and shared a few pictures plus the things she experienced with Instagram fans on September 11. Because the post was centered on her experience, there are only two photos of her actual face in the Instagram carousel; it's the last photo that offers the best view of her grown-out pixie cut. In it, Pugh had her head in her hands while her bright blonde hair stood out above her head.

Pugh debuted the new look during a late-night session of her ongoing unofficial Instagram series "Cooking With Flo" on Sunday. Although the dish she prepared — she ended up calling it "lettuce spicy crunchy feta thingy" — looked great, we couldn't take our eyes off her flippy bob. Currently a light brown, arguably bronde color right now, her hair is now long enough for the formerly short front pieces and bangs to be tucked behind her earring-bedecked ears. Pugh appeared with fellow Oppenheimer castmates at an event in London on Thursday, November 30, wearing a wide-neck, black dress, strappy heels, and silver drop earrings. It's a timeless ensemble, no doubt, but paired with Pugh's current hairstyle, it looks like an outfit from a 1980s Garry Marshall movie.

"I purposefully chose to look like that. I wanted vanity out of the picture," she shared with the Radio Times (via the Daily Mail). It's a well-known, incontrovertible scientific fact that Florence Pugh is a masterful grower-outer of super-short haircuts. That buzz cut was followed by several fantasy colors and a host of creative ways to wear short hair, from a spiky look to a faux hawk. And her latest style takes iconic '90s inspiration and gives it a very 2024 — and a very Florence Pugh — spin. For an appearance in London last night, Pugh and hairstylist Peter Lux looked to Billy Idol's Rebel Yell video to inform her new fluffy, icy blonde hairstyle.

Florence Pugh Just Debuted The Hair Transformation Of All Hair Transformations

The Don’t Worry Darling star nailed the water waves hairstyle when filming Jimmy Kimmel Live back in January 2020. Oxford-born Florence Pugh had already earned a British Independent Film Award for Best Actress in 2016, but here in the States, 2019 was definitely her year. Back to back, Pugh starred in the trippy folk horror film Midsommar and then in the remake of the classic Little Women — garnering major acclaim for both.

Florence Pugh's Met Gala debut was never going to disappoint, and true to form the actress stopped us in our tracks. Having played with her glam in the past — her nostalgic hair-gemmed pixie had my millennial heart in its feels, and you can’t forget about her purple tips — Pugh has been a case study for how much diversity and fun you can have with shorter hair lengths. And as someone who recently went for the big chop and cut some wispy bangs, I’m seriously tempted to go for her jaw-sculpting lob haircut. Pugh's pixie-mullet haircut is longer in the back with shorter, wispy pieces in the front, though the entire style doesn't extend past her shoulders. She didn't tag the hairstylist responsible for the switch-up, but she did include "#chopchopchop ✂️" in the caption, which put to rest any of our suspicions that the pixie-mullet haircut was all part of a Halloween costume. As well as posting her new blonde hair on the grid, Pugh shared the transformation on her stories, captioning the post, 'She went icy' whilst also revealing that the festive images were captured by 'the talented' Zach Braff on a Leica camera.

"The thing is, people want Instagram to be a nicer place, they want to see nice things," she continued. "They want to be inspired and they want to be happy. I don't mind you not liking me, that's absolutely fine. In which case don't follow me." But, it was Jumanji star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who brought the love and a little humor to the comments section. The actress posed for the candid shots in front of a set of windows, wearing what appeared to be a cozy sweater sports bra, with her name stitched onto the side.

However, it's Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's response that's got the internet in a spin. The actor and all round good guy commented on Pugh's post saying 'Love it sistah!! Although we're not sure we need to see Pugh and Johnson with matching bald heads... Per Deadline, the plot follows Allison (Pugh) “whose life falls apart after her involvement in a fatal accident” and the relationship she forms with her would-be father-in-law.

Florence Pugh's Flippy Bob Hairstyle Is a Masterclass for Growing Out a Pixie Cut

In 2017, she stunned fans by cutting off her long dark hair into an adorable pixie style dyed a platinum blond color. She added, "That is a little bit of why I cut my hair, because I really want to be my authentic self 100%. It hurts when I don't feel like I can." The Met Gala is all about jaw-dropping fashion and while Florence Pugh didn't disappoint with her show-stopping headpiece in 2023, what was even more stunning was how Pugh ditched her bleached blond hair and saved the Met Gala with her killer buzz cut. It was a daring move, and if anyone can pull off the shaved head look, it's Pugh.

When people have short hair, as it grows out, they may be tempted to explore other looks and colours – Florence is a perfect example of exploring multiple styles and colours. With that, you need to ensure you are maintaining your hair health so as it grows out, you won’t lose your hairs integrity. She was an early adopter when the style started coming back around a couple of years ago. And as long as she's wearing the look, it will always seem like the coolest way to grow out a short cut. Much like Princess Diana wore her iconic hairstyle, Florence's hair was voluminous on top and tucked behind her ears, which helped give the longer area in the back feel like a fun, flirty mullet — especially with its flipped-up ends. When the 28-year-old actress shaved her head in 2023, the hair transformation went viral. She debuted the look at the 2023 Met Gala, making international headlines for one of the most daring beauty looks of the night.

Attending the 2022 British Independent Film Awards over the weekend, Pugh stunned in a look her glam team dubbed “boudoir baby,” stepping onto the carpet in a blush-toned slip dress and billowing tulle cape of the same hue. Complementing the sensual vibe, she wore her short blonde slicked-back and flipped out, her bangs in a sculpted wave that screamed ’60s bedroom bombshell. Peter Lux, the hair guru behind the style, has worked with Florence countless times before — and when working in tandem with her go-to makeup artist, Alex Babsky, her team knows how to make some serious red carpet magic.

Florence Pugh looks unrecognisable after hair transformation for her new film

When we saw her in the Netflix series "Wednesday," Ricci's hair was an auburn color, which may have been a wig, given that she was back to her jet-black shade at the premiere. We love all the hair colors Ricci has worn but the inky color is definitely a favorite throwback to her "Addams Family" days. Though she’s experimented with adding colored tones at her ends, like the purple she wore to the Dior show earlier this year, until a few months ago, Pugh had never strayed too far from her natural hues. But ahead of the release of her highly anticipated new film Don’t Worry, Darling, which she stars in alongside none other than Harry Styles, the actress debuted the hair transformation of all hair transformations. “If you had told me in 2019 that Florence Pugh would go from Hollywood blonde bombshell long hair to Kris Jenner in 2022 I would've said you were lying,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Florence Pugh bleached her hair blonde during the holidays only to go back to brunette now?

Florence Pugh Remixed Princess Diana's Mixie Haircut for 2024

Like us, it seems Pugh’s fans are finding it hard to keep up with the multiple hair changes. Let’s hope for their sake (and the health of her hair) this switch to brunette lasts longer than the last one. Florence’s short hair is growing into a blonde bob with dark roots at the 2024 BAFTAs. The allure of decades past has always served as a reference point in hairstyling. The Oppenheimer star, 27, who first debuted the short hairstyle on the red carpet of the 2023 Met Gala in May, discussed the reasons why she wanted the hairdo during an interview with the Radio Times.

If she reads, she reads ELLE On sale now

At the Oppenheimer premiere in London, Florence arrived with a bright orange and yellow dyed shaved head. While our hair expert, Peter, says you’ll still have to persevere a bit when on a hair-growing journey, you’ll also need a few trips to your hairdresser to help keep you in a style that’s not too unruly. Pugh went slicked, super short, and raven black for the 2022 EE British Academy Film Awards. Sadly, the new hairdo is just for a film role and wasn't a permanent fixture. Florence confirmed the dye job was for her new film, A Good Person, which was directed by her ex, Zach Braff.

Or maybe she feels like going a little lower-maintenance for a while — a precursor to growing out the short style? On Saturday, the Black Widow star, 25, showed off her hair transformation on Instagram with a photo of her new, shorter 'do. Much like Princess Diana wore her iconic hairstyle, Pugh's was voluminous on top and tucked behind her ears, which made the longer hair in the back feel like a fun, flirty mullet — especially with the flipped-up ends. The good news is that Florence isn't shy about changing up her hair – the mullet hair cut and blue dip dye transformations are some of our personal favs – so we hope this isn't the last dye job we see from the actress.

The signature messy blonde has gone short and dark

Starring alongside Pugh in the film is Molly Shannon, Morgan Freeman, Celeste O’Connor and Zoe Lister-Jones. Cosmopolitan participates in various affiliate marketing programs, which means we may get paid commissions on editorially chosen products purchased through our links to retailer sites. Florence Pugh attends the Valentino Womenswear Spring/Summer 2024 show as part of Paris Fashion Week sporting a blonde faux-hawk. Perhaps the best part of this drastic chop is that we girlies keen to take the plunge are able to see how Miss Flo has styled it out along the way. With this cut and color combo, Pugh bears a striking resemblance to Victoria Beckham circa 2009. According to Pugh, this is not the first time that she has fought to “control [her] image,” as she told the outlet that it has been her focus since the beginning of her acting career.

Once recognizable by her long, golden blonde hair, the acclaimed actor has changed it up several times with major chops and color makeovers. But even though everyone has been loving the short style she's been sporting recently (some may call it a pixie mullet, others may call it a bixie), it looks like she may be growing it out — and in the process, giving us yet another super-cute style. Although the reason behind Perry's haircut was a bit sad, she learned to love her new look. "Everything is more fun with short hair! I can just get up and go. I feel so liberated with this hair now," she told W Magazine.

Pugh and Braff, 46, have been linked since August 2018 and she was cast in his short film In The Time It Takes to Get There, which was released in April 2019.

"I feel liberated from all the things that don't serve me. I'm surrendering and embracing my 30s," the pop star declared. There you have it — if you need some inspo for a punk pixie cut, just turn to Perry. At some point in the second half of 2021, Florence Pugh decided she was going to go on a hair roller coaster — a journey of cuts and colors to which we were invited. After trading in her signature long, blonde hair for a short brunette ‘do in late October, Pugh appeared to go bright red for a hot second a month later, only to show up on Instagram nearly platinum blonde in mid-December. But her New Year’s resolutions clearly did not include staying one hair color for a while because she's changed things up yet again. On Instagram, the 25-year-old posted two images of herself from a New York apartment, captioned simply, “I did a thing.” The thing Pugh is referring to, of course, is chopping all of her long hair off into a choppy brunette bob with curtain bangs.

Her natural hair is chocolate brown with thick curls, which she often wears down to her waist. Though it seems she's growing her hair back out again after the big reveal at the Met Gala, Pugh chose to shave her head to "take vanity out of the picture" and force audiences to pay attention to her acting, not the way she looks. “Hollywood is very glamorous — especially for women — and it's hard for an audience to see past that," she explained in an interview. "Whenever I've not needed to be glam or have a full face of makeup, I fight to keep it that way. For the first month of 2022, Pugh has been rocking a short, choppy blonde pixie-mullet cut with dark roots and a side part (despite what Gen Z says about them).

After first cutting her hair off in November earlier this year for an upcoming role in boyfriend Zach Braff's movie, A Good Person, Pugh has been rocking her new cropped cut, albeit in a more demure light brown shade. Swiftly becoming our favourite new hair chameleon to follow, Florence Pugh switched up her look yet again. The result is a haircut that's both sophisticated and effortlessly cool, perfect for the woman who wants a hairstyle that's both timeless and on-trend. According to Exploding Topics, the AI-powered tool that identifies emerging trends by analysing millions of data points from online searches and conversations,  searches for ‘90s Whisper Pixie have gone up 89 per cent over the past month. The former Disney Channel star wore her new lighter hair in an updo for the "Challengers" premiere and when asked by Elle if blondes have more fun, Zendaya joked, "We're about to find out, honey. We just got started, so I'll let you know." Pugh's make-up at the Met Gala, by esteemed artist Alex Babsky, was sponsored by Valentino Beauty.

Within the series of videos, Pugh told fans her Instagram cooking segments would be returning soon. "I am aware you've all been patiently waiting for a 'Cooking With Flo,' and I will do one next week," she said, without addressing her new hair color—perhaps at this point she thinks we’re used to the changes. Regardless of the hair color back and forth, fans have still weighed in on the change and compared the new edgier cut and darker color to everyone from Posh Spice to Kris Jenner.

Painted Ladies in San Francisco: History, Pictures, and Visiting Tips

painted ladies full house

Remember how they used to show the houses, known as the painted ladies, in the opening credits of the show? Well silly me, I thought that one of those houses was the Tanner house even though none of them looked like it. So I went to Alamo Square and took a picture thinking I was in the right spot. The houses are all privately owned, so you can't go inside for a visit. However, you can spend all the time you want admiring them from the street or the park across the street. Please be respectful to the owners and do not try to visit the properties.

The iconic row is located in San Francisco's ritzy Alamo Square neighborhood.

The search is currently on to find a new leader for the SNP and Scotland following Mr Yousaf's resignation on Monday. Although her views on social issues remain unpopular with some of her MSP colleagues, she was one of the few SNP ministers who did not delete her WhatsApp messages during the COVID pandemic. There had been speculation the former Scottish finance secretary would join John Swinney, who threw his hat in the ring earlier today. With her choosing not to go up against former leader Mr Swinney, it's "incredibly unlikely any other candidate will throw their hat in the ring". "Experience from the last local elections was that 99.75% of people were able to cast their vote successfully." Instead, you will see coverage of people voting, politicians casting their ballots and yes …  lots of dogs at polling stations.

Each one is considered a "season" based on its colors and a square with art inside it, which is located outside the house on its second floor. This is why you will find hundreds of Victorians on the western side of the city, but not very many painted ladies in the eastern districts such as Nob Hill, North Beach, and Telegraph Hill. Along the eastern side of Alamo Square Park is one of the most iconic and most photographed sights in San Francisco.

Before handing over a check, future homeowners may want to dig a bit deeper. These big and beautiful houses are much larger than others on this list. They aren't as bright or colorfully painted, but you will find some painted ladies, and the others have gorgeous details on them. In the 1960s, owners began to revitalize the houses in this district. They began to rehab their homes and paint them with lively colors.

That said, at least one resident does offer private tours inside one of the painted ladies. Perhaps the backdrop of the wide skyline of Downtown offers a photogenic view that is too pretty to resist visiting and taking pictures of. Photos of the homes are a common site on San Francisco postcards and other memorabilia, even adopting the nickname, “Postcard Row”. These Victorian homes have been around well before their nickname.

Visiting the Painted Ladies

You may recognize this famous image from the TV series "Full House." Look closely at these houses and you will see that they are not in fact identical. They boast a wealth of original architectural details, subtly different in each house. The Painted Ladies have often featured in films, adverts and TV programs, including the series Full House.

The home also has been laid out so that it can be split into two separate living spaces, which could be the perfect investment opportunity. For those who find taking on the project a tad daunting, a little bonus could be the cherry on top of this sweet sale. For the price tag of this home, one would almost assume it could be walk-in ready. As soon as you step through the doors, you are met with the sobering reality that it may take a few million more to restore the home back to its original brilliance.

The Scottish Tory used his questions to attack the SNP's record, including that of the party's former leader John Swinney, who this morning announced his bid to get the top job once again. Protesters in Peckham, south London, have blocked a coach due to take asylum seekers who have been housed in a local hotel to the Bibby Stockholm barge in Dorset. John Swinney, the man who looks set to become the next leader of the SNP, has admitted the party is going through a tough time. That said, it is only about a mile away, and a slightly downhill walk from the Painted Ladies, so you might want to consider walking between these attractions. The house you can see from the street is the residence used as a model for the house, which was made on a studio set.

The original builder and owner of 722 Steiner Street also built all the other six similar houses along Postcard Row. According to public records, the biggest one, 722 Steiner Street, was built first in 1892. It’s around 4,700 square feet and is estimated at around $4.5 to $5 million. You will see historic houses all around San Francisco, but the only true SF Painted Ladies are those with various colors on them. Learn how to get there, info about the most photogenic times to visit, nearby neighborhoods, and more. Just one block west of the park is Divisadero Street, a major thoroughfare lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.

The most famous Victorian Painted Ladies in San Francisco are across from the park on Steiner Street. These seven beauties line up side by side for a picture-perfect scene. The ground in this area is more stable than in most other neighborhoods in the city, so the 1906 earthquake did not destroy very many Victorians here.

In conjunction with the LA school system, we hosted LA Beats, which brought approximately 250 students from 5th grade through 12th grade to the Spotify studios for a musical experience like no other. Then, the participants celebrated with a contest and artists including Lil Nas X. The kids had a great time. The project came at the tail end of a two-year growth period that saw global employee headcount grow by 52%, from 3,813 people to 5,779, with new office spaces being added in rapid succession. It was a pace that left little time to determine a unified workplace-experience strategy.

(And our customers noticed, too.) Ensuring that Spotify felt inherently “Spotify,” regardless of the medium, became our core focus. In my role as the design lead on our design systems team, Encore, I’ve had a front-row seat as our teams tackle the daunting task of keeping the experience unified. Components have been core to our strategy—rethinking how we approach them, all the way from scoping to execution. Remember we said that whole thing about making an “evolving editorial destination”? We weren’t kidding, because our first iteration came in the form of a fast follow two weeks after launch. We added a new hub to house our Design-related audio content — like playlists, podcasts, and other highly listenable whatnot.

There’s also a new keyboard shortcuts modal that can be opened with the question mark key (?) or command + forward-slash (⌘/). Many of these changes weren’t possible in the old Desktop app, and while we still have areas to improve, the team has worked toward building accessibility into our design and development cycle. Additionally, we reworked our messaging and communication surfaces to better align with Spotify’s UX Writing voice and tone guidance. We’re also happy to introduce more moments of delight through motion and micro-interactions, like our playing indicator on trackrows and heart animation. We've made sure that new features work with assistive technologies, like screen readers, meet contrast requirements, and are usable in keyboard-only scenarios.

Then in September of last year, we stood back, took a hard look at what we’d done, and realized we’d missed an opportunity. Designers are (sometimes) referring to the principles when reviewing work, but there’s room for improvement on this front. It still takes some conscious effort to refer to the principles during critique, but over time we’re hoping it becomes more second nature. We’ll continue looking into this as part of ongoing efforts to improve our design processes, tools, and resources for designers. Marina’s work focuses on the intersection of language, design systems, and user experience.

Why cross-platform?

We adopted design tokens for foundational design decisions, such as color schemes and type styles. But, as our journey progressed, we recognized the need for more commonality between our subsystems. We’ve grown into an audio first company and doubled down on podcasts; we create products for listeners, artists, and advertisers; and we went from a handful of designers to almost 200.

Our goal was to unify Spotify Design with the Spotify brand at large, while maintaining the avant-garde approach we loved in Albin’s early explorations. We were experimenting with a lesser used version of Spotify’s standard typeface, but we couldn’t make the brand feel sufficiently Spotify without our trusty Spotify Circular Book. Photography-wise, we wanted to do away with stoic, “I am a very serious designer” headshots. By combining color photography with bright backgrounds and the fun highlights, we were better able to capture who we are as humans. Looking back, the rollout should have had more swag, like posters, stickers, or other goodies. It takes time to internalize new ideas, and external reminders would have helped.

Our design reference group could check on the site progress and leave feedback whenever they wanted. To share downloadable resources and create an open-source repository of design goodies that other organizations can dive into. The redesign was an opportunity to create a joyful pedestal on which to showcase our designers’ best work. And we wanted designers to have their say about what pedestal characteristics they desired most. Designing to bring our Desktop and Web listener experience to life. To explain how the design team works; to let us wax philosophical on our different disciplines; and to serve as a portal to Spotify Jobs. As a Design Team, it's often difficult (sometimes impossible) to take big risks in order to build a future you believe in. To solidify and celebrate our decisions, we made a brand book and cranked out some practical assets.

Cape Cod house style the ultimate guide to what it is and how to get the look

cape cod interior design

For an interesting Cape Cod bedroom concept, place a lamp in each corner to give the appearance of a natural light source. Cast iron is the best option because that’s what the Cape Cod pioneers used. They are usually made up of deep-cushioned accent chairs and luxurious but cozy sofas. Another preferred material is solid wood, which gives a rustic yet elegant feel.

FOR DESIGNERS

Mackenzie & Co.’s owner, Angela Hamwey, has loved curating welcoming spaces forever. Her skill at creating comfy, cohesive spaces that can handle family life is certainly what makes her one of the best interior decorators in Cape Cod. She delivers balanced results without delay, thanks to her creative and logical mindset. In the end, there are a lot of different reasons you are going to want to consider hiring a professional interior designer.

Cape Coastal Chic

The soft, neutral design is lifted by a few discrete touches of a darker or brighter color by either using a few cushions or accent pieces of furniture. The choice is yours when it comes to color, but shades of blue are reminiscent of the Cape Cod coastal style. Cape Cod homes usually have boxy shapes, pitched roofs, central fireplaces and chimneys, and one-and-a-half story layouts that make the most of the space under the roof by moving bedrooms upstairs. This style has evolved over the centuries and now many newer renditions have more complex shapes with intersecting gables and dormer windows, but they still have classic New England charm at their roots.

Cape Cod living room ideas: the fundamentals

Just because Cape Cod homes date back to the 17th Century doesn’t mean they can’t look and feel contemporary.

As its name suggests, Cape Cod house style is most common in Massachusetts and the greater New England region. While these types of residences are still be found in the Midwest and along the west coast, they might look different from their traditional, New England counterparts. According to ThoughtCo, modern-day Cape Cod spaces are often mixed with other architectural styles like Tudor, Ranch, Arts and Crafts, or Craftsman. Our studio is grateful for projects and clients who welcome collaboration as we work to create the most authentic version of their spaces.

An industry veteran of more than two decades, Cathy Kert’s interior design in Cape Cod is in a class of its own. The secret to her enduring success is listening closely to clients’ wishes. She also involves them in the project to guarantee they get their ideal room in terms of style and needs. Interior design in Cape Cod is among the best in the US when it comes to service and results. From helping them discover their style to sourcing the best sectional sofas for family rooms and more. A fresh coat of paint has the power to make or break a space, but don’t worry; when it comes to Cape Cod houses, it’s perfectly fine to keep your color palette simple.

After all, their designers specialize in every room and style imaginable. Before getting into what interior design comes down to in Cape Cod, let’s start with the exteriors. Its coastal towns and villages boast beautiful buildings full of personality. Cape Cod architecture is synonymous with the area and features prominently. Other styles are popular too, including Victorian, Greek Revival, Federal, Georgian, and Colonial. Sometimes our clients need just a consultation for new ideas or paint colors or they may have a few rooms needing to be refurnished; other times they have a full scale remodel.

Whether located by the sea or in a suburban neighborhood, these architectural elements continue to captivate homeowners with their classic and enduring design. Today, the Cape Cod house style continues to be a beloved and sought-after choice for homeowners looking for a blend of traditional elegance and practicality. Its rich history and enduring design elements are a testament to the enduring appeal of this architectural gem. Named after the Cape Cod peninsula in Massachusetts, this architectural style originated in the 17th century and has since become synonymous with coziness, charm, and a sense of history. With its simple yet elegant features, the Cape Cod house style has stood the test of time and continues to be a popular choice for homeowners today.

Keep in mind the importance of maintaining a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Incorporating black furniture, such as a coffee table or ottoman, can keep the look chic and modern, but the element of comfort and softness is still present to maintain the Cape Cod appeal. Cape Cod residences can be found throughout New England – and various parts of the United States – but the style feels most at home along the sandy beaches of Massachusetts. When looking for a Cape Cod house, the façade is usually the first that will come to mind. Though most residences often feature unpainted side shingles and a clapboard or cedar shake roof, its symmetry will likely catch your eye. 'Thanks to its enduring versatility, Cape Cod houses are suitable for an array of regions, types of families, and, of course, materials.

You can utilize standard design principles to draw inspiration from the architectural style and traditional heritage. Although it may not be immediately apparent, symmetry is one of the essential elements of a Cape Cod design. The colors should have seaside vibes and be more subdued than overly striking. However, you can choose to paint only one wall or perhaps just a portion of it blue to highlight a coastal-style color. Alternately, select a carpet, pillows, and cushions that go with the entire nautical theme.

Margo’s owner, Margie Huggard, is among the top Cape Cod interior designers and always adds the most unusual yet functional pieces to her spaces. Teaming up with clients to design interiors they’ll love for years to come certainly brings her great joy. Moreover, she’s committed to proving that the creation process can be just as enjoyable as the results. When decorating the interior of your Cape Cod house, consider incorporating natural textures, comfortable furnishings, and coastal-inspired decor to further enhance the overall charm and coziness.
